White & grey porcelain torn edge bowl.

Two bowls are thrown in this process, then the rims are dissected and the grey rim in this case is rejoined to the white bowl using a dark grey porcelain to create the seam running through the piece.

After I have finished making the piece I carefully re-throw the rim gradually making it finer until it begins to tear, each piece has it's own unique quality. After the final firing it is sealed using a ceramic liquid quartz, this acts like a glaze without altering the beauty of the natural surface.The vessel is then waxed and polished leaving a beautiful natural sheen.
